Cerebral palsy

Cerebral palsy means weakness or lack of muscle control. It is usually due to lack of oxgen to the brain, thus causing damage to brain cells.

Symptoms include:

  • Early feeding difficulties
  • Delayed development
  • Poor muscle control
  • Muscle spasms
  • Lack of coordination

Cerebral palsy patients can achieve greater control over movement, as they learn and practise motor skills. The management team includes doctors, support network, motor intervention program, and other health practitioners. As osteopaths, we may help in reducing the muscular tightness and improve range of motion. We may also help with their gut motility and reduce constipation.
